Vote for Deena in the Queensland Music Awards + Brisbane show announced

I’m so stoked to announce that I’ve been nominated for another category in the 2016 Queensland Music Awards for the Most Promising Female Songwriter. I was jumping up and down when I heard the news as it is the biggest thing I’ve been up for since we started this arduous music journey. **UPDATE: WHAAAAAAAAATTTT!!! I […]

DEENA – ‘TURPENTINE’ AUSTRALIAN TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT

FB Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/820579238040328/ Deena’s new single Turpentine is a brooding look into the consuming power of darkness. Through the lens of a haunted modern blues, Deena paints the portrait of a user and abuser whose destructive habits cause nothing but what they promise. From the opening verse, the songstress, alone with her electric guitar, sings […]

Band Press Shoots with Adam Smith

As we wrap up the Black Cat campaign.. I just wanted to feature and say a huge thank you to Adam Smith (@adamjsmith_) for putting his hand up to shoot us as a band. It was a pain in the butt to scout isolated domestic locations and smelly free Gumtree couches, but Adam was there […]

GOMA

I had a lovely day yesterday. I started my day working my first day at Nightlife Music (digital advertising/music firm) as a marketing assistant. I met the 90+ staff there which was absolutely daunting but got settled right into their friendly work culture. I then had to do the scary task of catching my very […]

Recording of the 2nd Album in the Middle of Nowhere

DAY 1 We made our way to Airlock Studios in the preserved valley of Samford. It seems almost surreal that a pocket of untouched nature remains quite close to Brisbane. Here, sits the studio of Powederfinger member Ian Haug – and boy what a beauty this studio is! Sitting on a hilltop surrounded by trees […]

Raw Awards

The band and I were fortunate enough to be invited to perform at Raw Awards Australia for 2013. Although we were nominated for Musician of the Year, we didn’t quite make the title due to the overwhelming pool of talent to chose from. However, we got to play alongside the local and national winners, The […]

Jakarta

So I was blessed enough to receive a spontaneous call a week beforehand, asking if I was willing to perform at some vague De Major Record Label gathering all the way in Jakarta, Indonesia. Very casual. Of course it was such late notice but I could not say no to a city and country I’ve […]

Asia Tour

Having been an independent artist for shy of a year, I’ve certainly been blessed for the experiences I’ve encountered in such a short amount of time. In May this year, I experienced my first overseas tour to Asia that took me to Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia. I crammed 7 shows, 5 cities, 6 flights, and 1 bullet train ride into 12 days. Including all the shopping sprees and sightseeing I did as well, I was completed knackered by the end of the tour.
