We headed out to Himeji, which was a short distance from Kyoto by the shinkansen.
The renovation of Himeji was still ongoing so we were only able to tour the surrounding areas. At least the scaffolding had been removed recently so we were able to see the newly reformed castle.
Famous stone wall which is compared to a samurai fan.
After Himeji we headed to Ginkakuji – Silver Pavilion.. but it actually isn’t silver. This lady was on the street side with handmade trinkets from kimono material, for such beautiful craftsmanship and free engraving, she really didn’t charge much.
It was a beautiful garden that surrounded the Silver Pavilion with combed zen gardens, untouched moss floors and carefully curated plants and trees that make up the grounds.
We decided to take the 30 minute walk from Ginkakuji to Nanzenji. On our way, we found this cart full of cats happily sleeping. I’ve never seen such a thing hahaha.
Aqueduct
We then popped back to the Kawaramachi area to do a bit of browsing.
This is Three Star by Kinji, another huge second hand clothing store. However, it was in such a great grand space with interesting interior pieces such as bathtubs with goldfish and many chandeliers hung from the ceiling.
