I went to the 100 yen store and bought some goodies, then to the pharmacy to get some stuff for mum. Japanese pharmacies sell everything. Then I met my dad at St Marc Cafe – my new hub. I pretty much have eaten this chocolate croissant everyday since I’ve been here – it’s so bad but I mean it’s good. Real good.

We then caught the Hibiya line to get to Higashi-Ginza where Kabukiza resides. It’s a fairly new structure as they tore down the old one and built this amazing thing from scratch.

Today I was playing in a more traditional sense as there were folding screens that costed from $1000 to $80,000. CRAZY. I should’ve brought a scraper to chip off some gold hahaha. It was a sit down upper class sushi restaurant that was more like dinner, drinks & show in a modern Japanese setting. After sound check we decided to get a quick bite at a soba/udon shop. I demolished both mine and my father’s leftovers.

I thought this was the cutest Kombi ever – but my dad says it’s not even a Volkswagen. It’s the exact same as his car which is a Subaru but they buy these custom fitouts to turn it into this. I’ve seen this a few times so it seems quite popular. Haha what great branding for Volkswagen – I’m surprised they haven’t jumped on board and created a Japanese version of a Kombi to be exploited.

My intense four tier merchandise table haha! I bought that easel at the 100 yen store. I saw Taiga using one for his CDs and I thought that was brilliant and had to have one for my shows and back at home too.

My father! He’s been a great roadie on this tour, we’ve been calling him the Luggage Carrier ‘にもつたんとうしゃ’

Aunty Lala, one of my mum’s old friends. She hasn’t seen me since I was about 6 years old living in Yokohama so that’s pretty crazy!

Ivana with pianist, Jun Tomoda. They were a jazz duo. Jun is only 20 years old and his jazz piano capabilities were through the roof. I could’ve listened to him for hours.

Ivana also played the melodica / pianica / key flute – she played that so fluidly! I haven’t even seen such a fancy one before. It was a Hammond and had a pick up in it! The only ones I’ve seen were kind of toy versions made out of plastic.

The room was very dry so I struggled a little. The staging is actually not meant for shoes. You had to wear socks but before my actual gig we wiped the bottom of my shoes silly until they were squeaky clean. I was happy to wear my zebra socks though.

P1060171The musicians.. and my zebra socks. Hahaha!
