Success

So the other day a friend of mine was so kind to try and introduce me online to his event manager friend in the music industry. Before a conversation could even begin, she snubbed my hello, wrote “Alrighty” and left the conversation.

Then, without even meeting me or knowing anything about me, she went on to share her opinion to my friend about why would you record if you’re in it for the music and why would you tour if you’re not in it for the money.

Days like this makes working in the music industry so fickle. When it drills down to a battle of egos and who has the power trip, it’s hard to keep on striving.

Although, those days tend to wear me down, it also acted as a reminder. Music for me is about working with people who share in the same values. Music for me means I can continue to collaborate and create art with meaning. It just means that sometimes things get harder, resources are tighter and the community around me becomes more important.

It’s okay that to her, it is about the money. Money does tend to be the societal determinant of success but just don’t let it deter you from how you want to be successful. We define our own success.

On another note, we had a shoot this weekend for our new promo photos for the upcoming releases.
