Getaway to Cambridge Plateau

Joe (my electric guitarist) and I had had a big year and so as a little treat to ourselves and a way to rejuvenate our creativity, we decided to head off together on our first songwriting retreat to the rural countryside of Cambridge Plateau. Here, we spent 3 days doing… nothing. Well, reading, playing music, taking walks, cooking and eating. There was also a lot of napping. We ended up finishing a new song that I had written but otherwise it was peace and quiet for my restless soul.

Giving yourself time certainly does make a difference. Since my return, I’ve felt a lot more at ease as the stress has withdrawn away from the forefront of my mind. I can feel the creative juices brewing in the background waiting to get tapped into. Now to just tap into it! Hopefully, I’ll get working on some new songs soon!

Simba pinned down a wallaby intruder to our little enclosed farm. He didn’t intend on killing it but it died from shock. We ended up taking it out on a wooden board hundreds of metres away, the next day we saw a farm dog hack into it like dinner – it was pretty disgusting.
