Mission’s, Koenji

Today was a simple day.. I walked for a very short period around Daikanyama, next to Ebisu where I am staying. I just wanted a rest day so I took it easy and set up my apartment ready for the next 2 weeks.

I got to Mission’s at Koenji for sound check to find that… I was the only acoustic performance. They had thought that I was going to be bringing the band. Lost in translation I guess haha.. would’ve been awesome to have the band amongst these local bands but I just had to do my solo thing. I was very unsettled by the fact that I was the last act before the headliner and after hours of rock, I would be playing acoustic. I got over it and just got into my head to just do my thing. The vocalists got a activate maximum voice massage haha which was interesting. When I was watching, it looked painful but it really made me want to sleep. I think it helped haha, on the night I felt my belt outs a lot more supported.

I made a lovely group of friends that night. I even have a band all set up if I ever needed back up – they were so nice to put forward their talents to help me out next time. Hahaha the music scene here for me, has been a lot more friendly and accepting. Free from stratification and is just so genuine and supportive. It’s been refreshing.

I also received a gift from an audience, Takako of a limited edition Tim Burton collaboration with a Japanese food company. I’ve yet to open it to try it out or even know what type of food it is but I am so grateful for the gesture. Thanks Takako!
